ABSTRACT


Niler keje yang aku buat selama neh, yang telah menhuru-harakan seluruh kehidupan aku kat final year, meragut ketenangan kawan2 aku, mengubah diri menjadi seorang mental dan hilang kewarasan. So far keje aku bleh dikira siap. Tinggal wat conclusion jek lagi. prosiding pun tunggu mase publish, at least aku ade satu publication, tersangat ler baik bagi budak yang baru amek degree cam aku. Minggu depan hantar spiral binding. secara tak rasminya semua keje penulisan dan berakhir. tapi derita aku belum berhujung selagi hard cover dah keluar. doakan aku masih mampu melarung kepayahan yang dah tak sampai 2 bulan lagi.

SYNTHESIS OF CARBON NANOTUBES USING DIFFERENT SOURCE OF CARBON
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been successfully synthesized from acetylene (C2H2) by catalytic chemical vapor deposition technique (CCVD) with ferum and cobalt supported by calcium carbonate as catalyst. This research is focusing on synthesizing carbon nanotubes from different source of gas such as methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and ethylene (C2H4). The most important parameter in this study is the flow rates of the precursor, which are varied according to their RMW ratio to C2H2. All the other parameter - temperature, reaction time and carrier gas flow rate - were set according to the optimum condition obtained from the previous work. Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDAX) and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) characterized the carbon nanotubes produced. The results show that CH4 and CO2 need manipulation of other parameters in order to produce CNTs while C2H4 is one of the suitable precursors for synthesizing CNTs. With an optimum flow rates, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were produced while at higher flow rate; more amorphous carbon and mixture of CNTs were produced. As a conclusion, flow rate of the precursor played an important role in the purity of the as-synthesized CNTs.
